The Meaning Behind JXB

JXB stands for Jeffrey X. Butler, my son.

Jeffrey's name is at the heart of everything we do. His life, his memory, and the impact of his loss have become the foundation for a mission dedicated to helping others.

The loss of a loved one to senseless violence leaves a pain that is difficult to put into words. But through that pain, we have chosen to create purpose.

JXB is a reminder that Jeffrey was more than a name. He was a son, a loved one, and a person whose life had meaning.

Through the Senseless Violence Foundation, we are committed to keeping his memory alive while working toward communities where fewer families have to experience the devastating effects of violence.

Remembering Jeffrey X. Butler

Jeffrey X. Butler will always be remembered as a beloved son whose life touched the people around him.

His loss changed our family forever. While no organization can undo that loss, we can choose how we carry his memory forward.

The JXB initiative was created as a way to honor Jeffrey while giving others hope, support, and an opportunity to make a difference.

His name is now connected to a mission that reaches beyond one family — a mission focused on awareness, prevention, community, and the value of every human life.

We carry Jeffrey with us by continuing the work.

A Daughter Who Never Got the Chance

Jeffrey X. Butler was a father, and his daughter, Jaharmoney Butler, was only five months old when his life was taken.

She was just beginning her life, far too young to understand who her father was or to create the memories that a daughter should have with her dad.

Jaharmoney never got the chance to grow up with Jeffrey—to hear his voice, feel his embrace, receive his guidance, or experience the love and presence of her father as she grew.

That is one of the heartbreaking realities of senseless violence: it doesn't only take one life. It takes away birthdays, conversations, milestones, memories, and moments that families can never get back.
